Lee Aronsohn’s Debut Feature “40 Years in the Making: The Magic Music Movie” set to Jam at Woodstock & Napa Valley Film Festivals

Musical documentary written, directed and produced by veteran TV writer-producer Aronsohn to World Premiere at Woodstock Film Festival on Oct. 15th

Legendary Colorado band Magic Music is set to reunite and play live at the Napa Valley Film Festival on November 11th

(Los Angeles, CA) September 26, 2017 – It is with great excitement that filmmakers today announce the highly anticipated musical documentary “40 Years in the Making: The Magic Music Movie,” directed by veteran TV writer-producer Lee Aronsohn (“The Big Bang Theory,” “Two and a Half Men”), will have its World Premiere screening at the upcoming Woodstock Film Festival on October 15th, 2017, followed by a West Coast Premiere at the Napa Valley Film Festival on November 11th.  The Napa Valley premiere of the film will also include a rare live performance of the doc’s focus, the original 1970’s jam band Magic Music, following the screening at the Uptown Theater in Napa, CA.

Lee Aronsohn is best known as one of the forces behind “Two and a Half Men” and “The Big Bang Theory,” though he is also credited for work on shows such as “The Love Boat,” “Murphy Brown,” and “Cybill.” As a graduate from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Aronsohn traveled back to his alma mater for the first time in 40 years to tell the story of Magic Music in his first-ever feature length documentary.

Fresh out of the Woodstock Concert era, a band of hippies who called themselves “Magic Music” roamed around Boulder playing small shows and earning a dedicated following. Although the musicians played two of the earliest Telluride Bluegrass Festivals, they broke up in 1976 without ever releasing an album. Avid “Magic Music” fan turned successful television producer Lee Aronsohn set out to find the scattered members of this elusive jam band decades after they broke up, hoping to get them to play one last show. “40 Years in the Making: The Magic Music Movie” is Aronsohn and the band’s magical story.

The film will World Premiere at the Woodstock Film Festival on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 6:30pm at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, NY.

The official West Coast premiere of the film for the general public, which will include an exciting live performance from the reunited, original Magic Music, will take place November 11, 2017 at 1:30pm at the Uptown Theater in Napa, CA.

An additional screening for festival pass holders will take place at the Charles Krug Winery in St. Helena, CA on Thursday, November 9th at 1:30pm.
